A Dedication For Her

Hello world!
I was reading a certain woman’s blog today. Hearing some of her story, and what they’ve had to overcome has been beautiful, amazing, and inspiring. Being able to share your story, no matter the difficulty, always inspires me to write, and to never give up. This is for you E.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
You see I’ve been broken,
I’ve been held back,
Uninspired,
Lost,
And any other adjective the powers that be would have it.

I love life,
Yet I’m criticized for it.
I love food,
But I’m told to not consume in abundance.

I shall travel one day.
I shall have my vengeance on those that naysay.
I should try,
To defy,
All those that say I can’t do.

Who dare to correct me?
I’m like a bird you see.
A lot to see and not enough time for a reprieve.

I shall eat a peach,
I shall preach,
On what you can do for me.
You should be my congregation and agree.
Not aggrieve,
Disagree.
It matters not what you choose to be.
You shall see world.
You shall see.

Ahead

It’s not the holidays that have me full of cheer,
Nor the consumption of beer.
Truthfully it’s the upcoming fear,
That is near.
The next year is just about here.
For the first time I’m clear.
Free of the hustle and bustle of constants sneers.
Free from the inhumanely leers.
peer, sheer, jeer,
You know what’s real.
There’s a change in me,
and for once it’s letting me be.
I can see!
Darling please pass me the tea.
I’m here on solid ground,
I’m future bound,
And it’s more than my heart can compound.
People have kept me in the past.
They’ve kept me down,
trodden,
sad.
Now I’m glad,
I can no longer be mad.

Keep Your Heart Three Stacks…..

“Open up your mind and just rest…” -Floetry

Good evening world,
So I’ve been good. I hope that you’ve been liking my (deep, thoughtful) poetry. I’ve been having a lot of fun writing it. It has allowed me to express myself in ways that I never thought possible. When something romantic, or even thoughtful hits my mind, I feel the need to write it. I don’t know if that’s how you feel, but instead of metaphorically having a pen and paper at my disposal daily I have my laptop. When inspiration strikes. Here I am. I just wanted to say thanks for liking and following my stuff and I hope you like what’s ahead.

An Unconventional Approach

“Girls you’ve gotta know when it’s time to turn the page.” ― Tori Amos (From the Choirgirl Hotel)

Hello world!
So, a couple of days ago I told you that I was applying to my alma mater for graduate school. After I applied and hit send, I’ve been thinking non-stop for the past couple of days about my future. Thoughts like, “Did I make the right choice,” or “What if this isn’t the major for me,” have been running rampant through my head.
You see I’ve always wanted to make a positive impact, or show change to someone who was in my position. I wanted to show other young women and girls that even when it seems the odds are against you, you can still succeed. I also knew that in my head for all my talk of bravado, and self-confidence I knew the only real reason I was picking CSU Fresno was because it was my safety zone. I picked a safe major (english), a pretty safe place, and a very predictable atmosphere; but I wanted to shake things up. So I looked into other programs. And guess what?
I am now a proud student at Strayer University. that’s right folks, you’re girl right here is an M.B.A. student.
Oh I’m scared out of my mind; (I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t worry) But I realized that I am changing, and I should try something that makes me work even harder to achieve my goal. So in a couple of weeks, your girl Nikki is hitting the books once again.
I’m baaaacccccckkkkk!
