“The things we touch have no permanence. My master would say: there is nothing we can hold onto in this world. Only by letting go can we truly possess what is real.” – Crouching Tiger, hidden Dragon
How are you? Well a lot has been going on in the world recently(you know small stuff: Ebola, Ferguson, riots, stuff like that) and I’ve decided to not comment on any of it tonight.
Do you know why?
Because I’m in a zen state of mind. That means that NO stress will enter these thoughts tonight. Natalie Goldberg said that stress is an ignorant state. I agree. I think if you make problems or situations that arise unimportant, then it won’t have as big an impact on your emotions, and your daily rituals. I think we as people let stress rule our lives when I think we should be dictating what we allow in our lives that is stressful. You have a deadline to meet and your stressed about it? Well let me ask you two questions; Did you do everything in your power to accomplish said goal by the date? Did you give the project you’re working on 100%? Well, as long as those two questions were answered properly then you have nothing to worry about.
I’m saying all this to say that I’ve learned a lot about myself and what I can or cannot handle this year. And one of the important things was my place of employment. It’s funny, because I used to stress, worry, bite my nails, and almost make myself sick with nerves thinking what would happen. I’ve realized that if one door closes it’s meant for me to go flying through another one. So what am I now?
hopeful, happy, sane, content. (Well at least for a couple of weeks because let’s be honest I’m starting the application process of applying to grad school yeeesh!)
